A late 18C / early 19thC wrought iron log grate
with the attractive feature of a shelf which pivots over the fire for cooking or forward for warming or simmering. Slight delamination to a front leg, which is an indication of its manufacturing process and antiquity.
The left hand 'horn' is a professional blacksmith replacement.
The metal was de-rusted, painted in Thermolac and finally burnished using graphite paste. Might make a good basis as a fire guard for a log-burner or a rustic BBQ.
21.5"W x 20"H x 7"D.
£225.
