An elegant and refined but imposing Regency fireplace pairing in 'partly restored' condition. Comes complete with its bars and ash tray but lacking the damper plate which can easily be fabricated. Showing triple laurel wreaths surrounded by egg and dart moulding. Would look fabulous polished to a high gloss. There are minor faults which can be expected with an antique of this age.
UPDATE: I began restoring the surround which has now been rubbed down, chemically derusted and painted with matt black Thermolac. Whilst doing this, I found that the the top of the left hand leg had been professionally repaired by welding and the 'scrolled bracket' beneath the decorative frieze has been carefully restored. The top shelf is very slightly bowed in the centre. The slide-out bars and bottom grate have also been derusted. The insert is complete but the lower LHS panel has been cracked in the past but has now been professionally repaired and welded. I don't wish to spend any more time or money on its restoration so I'm prepared to take an offer in excess of £275 from someone who has the expertise and enthusiasm to complete this challenge.
